Woltemade Strike and Gordon Brace Power Newcastle to 4-0 Champions League Triumph Over Union SG

Newcastle United emphatically reignited their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win against Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. Having faltered in their first match against Barcelona, the Magpies demonstrated a precise and assertive offense that will enhance their confidence as they move forward. In the 17th minute, Newcastle took the lead when Nick Woltemade redirected Sandro Tonali’s volley into the goal following a slight deflection. Just prior to the break, the visitors extended their lead when Anthony Elanga was fouled in the penalty area, enabling Anthony Gordon to convert the ensuing penalty with composure.

During the second half, Newcastle maintained their purposeful pressing, and they were again rewarded for their superiority in the 64th minute. Following a VAR review, a handball by Kamiel Van de Perre was confirmed, resulting in Gordon receiving his second penalty of the evening. The winger was precise in his execution, scoring to establish a three-goal advantage for his team. As Union SG was stretched and chasing shadows, Newcastle added a fourth goal late in the game when Harvey Barnes completed a quick counter-attack with a neat finish following a well-timed run from midfield.
