University o Guelph Scholarship Details:
The Dry Bean Breeding & Computational Biology Lab in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph is inviting applications for two fully funded Master’s Graduate Research Assistantship positions starting in Fall 2025.
This groundbreaking research focuses on applying multi-omics approaches—including genomics, epigenomics, and hyperspectral imaging—to uncover the mechanisms behind seed coat color stability and darkening in cranberry and pinto beans.
Seed coat darkening negatively impacts the market value, consumer acceptance, and storage quality of dry beans. This project aims to identify genetic and epigenetic markers that can help plant breeders develop stable, non-darkening bean varieties.
