Messages advising 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) applicants to reprint their exam slips for a retake have been repudiated by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The board labeled the JAMB short code as a fake, even though the messages were coming from a 66019 short code.
JAMB vehemently denied any responsibility with the communications in a statement sent by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board wishes you to draw the public’s attention to misleading messages circulating via a spoofed version of its 66019 short code,” the notification says in full.
Candidates who have already taken the retake exam and got their results are instructed by these communications to reprint their exam slips in order to take the test again.
We firmly declare that JAMB is not the source of these communications. Candidates who successfully finished the retake test and received their results don’t need to worry since there aren’t any exams scheduled at this time. These kinds of communications are fake and meant to cause confusion.
“The international exam, which will be administered in nine countries around Europe, the Middle East, and several African countries, is the only exam that JAMB plans to administer and has not yet set a date for.
Candidates who skipped the main and retake exams and who were only given exemptions for 2025 will also be able to take part in the regular mop-up for those who encountered biometric problems.
“We implore the public to ignore these misleading communications. Those who meet the requirements for the mop-up test will be informed as soon as the preparations are complete.
