Japan Government METI AI and Tech Talent Internship Details:
Applications for the 2025 AI and Tech Talent Internship, hosted by the Japan Government Ministry of Trade, Economy, and Investment (METI) have begun.
The Japan Government METI Internship is a fully funded International Internship in Japanese Companies in the Fields of AI, IT, and Tech.
The METI AI and Tech Talent Internship is a government-approved internship program, and is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s, or graduate students. Proficiency in the Japanese Language is also not required.

Requirements for Japan Government METI AI and Tech Talent Internship
To be considered for the Japan Government METI AI and Tech Talent Internship, you must:
- hold citizenship of a country listed on the OECD/DAC list (excluding the People’s Republic of China).
- Must align with the objectives of this program and be willing to actively contribute to the internationalization efforts of Japanese companies, the expansion of overseas businesses, and building networks with overseas universities through internship participation.
- Must hold citizenship of a country listed on the OECD/DAC list (excluding the People’s Republic of China).
- Must reside outside of Japan.
- Must be expected to graduate from, or have already graduated from, a university, junior college, technical college, or a higher educational institution.
- If you have already graduated from university, you must have graduated within the last three years.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Must not have Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N5 or higher.
- Must be able to fully commit to internships and training at companies and be available for activities scheduled according to the activity plan submitted to the administration office.
- Must meet any additional requirements specified by individual companies.
